Higurashi/When They Cry Opening Theme Remix – Clawing at the Night (W.I.P.)

A YouTube link and Box.net link to my current remixing project: Clawing at the Night, a remix of the opening theme from the horror anime “Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni” or in the States “When They Cry”. This is a military inspired brass, kettledrum, and drum line orchestral arrangement and remix of the creepy and haunting theme of Higurashi that I have been working on for about a month or so. Currently, it is about 85% done.

This link contains the YouTube version of the remix and gives a little bit of commentary on the progress.
Box.net Links:

With normal reverb effects.

With various instruments having reverb.

Both links showcases the project at about 85-89%. The box.net files contains more powerful french horns thanks to a few editing I did with reverb and giving the horns heavy dynamics.

Edit: I know the YouTube and Box.net’s file states the remix is call “Takin’ It Home Because That’s a Lie” but I decided to change the title of this remix to “Clawing at the Night”. The new title is based from one of the verses of the lyrics in the Higurashi opening theme.

What Is Project ARES?

“Project ARES” or “Project Anime Re-Symphonic” is my personal blog dedicated to remixing the world of anime music with an orchestral and symphonic flare.   Project ARES’s goal is to spread and gain respect towards,  arrange, and intact the world of anime music through remixing it in an orchestral style.  I, Project ARES, seek to interpret popular anime music  into many orchestral styles.

The famous J-Rock song “God Knows” from the equally famous anime “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” as Baroque style Gavotte, the haunting opening theme of “When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni) as a military inspired brass orchestral,  the heavy rock song “Ready Steady Go” from Full Metal Alchemist as a string quartet -You name it and I’ll do it in a totally different style than the original!

I hope you will enjoy what I have to offer as an anime fan but more importantly, as a musician and arranger.
